Beta Freshman Class GPA Highest Among Fraternities
Congratulations to the freshman class for your success in the classroom. The Beta Theta Pi freshman class averaged a 3.03 GPA for the spring semester to take the top honors among fraternities.

The All-House Beta GPA was also higher than the all-men's and all-fraternity averages.

Moms Weekend 2008

On the weekend of April 18th and 19th it was Moms Weekend for the 2007-08 school year. The Beta House had a great weekend. The weekend started off with a pinning ceremony with Mark proposing to his longtime girlfriend. All of the mothers thought it was a wonderful ceremony and they liked to see their sons all dressed up. After the pinning ceremony we had fun with our Moms for the night.

On Saturday, we had an auction for the house. We had the moms bid on baskets and the house raised over $1500. After the auction was held, Elton John came to Pullman and performed at Beasley. A whole bunch of the guys in the house went to the concert with their Moms and had a good time. One of the guys in the house even got front row seats. His mom was thrilled and had a wonderful time.

Overall, Mom’s Weekend was a great weekend and we look forward to next years. Thanks to all of the Moms for their donations to the house!

Beta Theta Pi Places 2nd in Greek Week 2008

The annual Greek Week competition between fraternities and sororities unites and promotes the Greek community here at Washington State University. In 2008, the Greek Week competition was held on March 31st – April 6th and all of the proceeds went to the Whitman County Animal Shelter.

For Greek Week Competition, each Fraternity is paired up with a Sorority. Beta Theta Pi was paired up with, Phi Kappa Theta and Sigma Kappa for the competition. Members from each house competed in an array of events throughout the week in order to raise the most money and points for their team, donating all of the proceeds to the Whitman County Animal Shelter. The festivities ranged from the Greek Olympics which included activities such as basketball, volleyball and dodge ball, to a lip sync and talent show competition. In addition to the events, Beta Theta Pi hosted an all Greek barbeque for every chapter involved in Greek Week competition, which ended up being a huge success.

Everyone who participated in the week’s events gave it their all and proudly represented Beta. When everything was said and done, Beta Theta Pi found itself in 2nd place out of 14 teams. Receiving 2nd place is a gratifying finish for all three houses, due to the countless hours that were volunteered raising money and competing for a charitable cause.

Team #11: 3100 - Kappa Delta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, FarmHouse
Team #14: 2776 - Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Kappa, Phi Kappa Theta

Crimson Girls and Pumkin Carving
Tom Trefry
-Social Chairman

Beta Theta Pi is interested in reaching out to student organizations outside the Greek System. On the eve of Halloween, Beta Theta Pi had a pumpkin carving exchange with the Crimson Girls Dance Team at our chapter house. Each member teamed up with a Crimson Girl in a competition for the most creative and best pumpkin design. Wyatt O’Day won both competitions with his partner. It was a successful and fun night for everyone who participated!

Beta Quote "My belief continues to increase that Beta will do for our system exactly what I had hoped - get the system to watch a fraternity form that believes in what it says and practices what it preaches."
-Charles W. Warner, Lynchburg 1987
